Travel is one of the biggest joys in life. Nothing can replicate the feeling of discovering a new place or experiencing different cultures. Unfortunately, in this day and age, traveling around the world is at a premium. It’s super expensive – but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun!
There are still plenty of local places that are worth visiting. You have no clue how many amazing hidden gems are dotted around your home country. With that in mind, let’s look at three fun ideas that give you excuses to travel more and explore new cities or towns!
Attend Concerts
Bands go on nationwide tours all the time, and there are loads of music festivals hosted throughout the year. So, this is a brilliant way to travel to new places! It gives you an excuse to pack your bags and enjoy a weekend away.
One idea is to think about certain places you’ve never visited and look if there are concerts or music festivals in the area. If you’re keen to visit New York, it’s worth checking for 2023 concerts at venues like the Bethel Woods Center. Or, you could pick a favorite band or artist you follow, and look to see if they’re touring. Then, try to secure tickets for a location you’ve never visited. You get the joy of music and travel in one go!
Visit National Parks
Another brilliant way to see more of your local surroundings is by visiting some of the National Parks up and down the country. You could create a National Park bucket list where you have multiple parks you want to visit. Work your way through the list and you’ll soon discover beautiful areas of the country you’ve never seen before.
It’s a simple and easy way to plan your next staycation. Plus, National Parks all tend to have campsites, so you can camp for a few days and enjoy that experience, too.
Throw A Dart At A Map
The previous ideas followed a sense of logic. If you’re a music fan, concerts or festivals naturally give you excuses to travel. Creating a National Park bucket list lets you find beautiful places with incredible experiences. This idea is completely built around luck.
Get a map, put it on a wall, and throw a dart at it. Close your eyes and see where it lands. This will be your travel destination! Or, you could visit the closest city the dart lands in. If you’d rather, you can have a similar effect by spinning a wheel and writing different states or cities on it. Wherever it lands is where you’ll go. It’s just a cool way to add some randomness to your travel plans – who knows, it might help you find a hidden gem.
There’s nothing wrong with staying in your own country instead of traveling abroad. Especially if you’re blessed with so many amazing sights and scenes – like we are in the US. All you need are some excuses to pack your bags and spend a few nights away in a new place. The three ideas above will do just that!
