The past year and a half has been a tough one for many of us. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic was entirely unprecedented and has seen countless changes take place in our lives. Trying to slow and minimise the spread of the virus, many of us have led relatively socially isolated existences of late. But as vaccines are being rolled out around the world, we seem on track to a return to normality. This deserves celebration! Here are just a few ways you might want to celebrate with your friends and family once restrictions lift and we can safely spend time together again!
Hold a BBQ
A good first step back into social life is to hold a BBQ. This is a good option, as it’s outdoors, which many people may be more comfortable with to start with. Holding a BBQ will largely rely on good weather, so make sure to check the forecast when choosing a day to invite your nearest and dearest around. It doesn’t have to be a big event. You can just test the water by spending some time with a few of your closest friends who you’ve missed the most. Now, there’s a fair bit of planning that will go into this. You’ll need to make sure you have a BBQ – permanent or disposable will do – and that you have all the food required to feed everyone. Double check dietary requirements, as some people may have gone vegetarian, vegan or gluten free since you last saw them. Then, consider drinks, lighting (if you intend for the BBQ to go on into the evening), seating and music. It should all come together perfectly!
Host a Dinner Party
As things progress, more people get vaccinated and restrictions ease, you may want to consider bringing people inside your home. This will become a more appealing option as fall draws in and the temperature begins to drop too. Now, hosting a dinner party may take a bit more work than a BBQ. While you may already have seating and lighting in place, you may need to take a bit more time mulling over and preparing the meal. Dinner parties often follow set menus and you might want to try practicing the dishes you’re offering in advance. If you want to go all out, you could do a start, main and dessert. For dessert, why not try a delicious peach pie with this peach pie filling recipe at Sugar Geek Show.
Head Out
More and more stores, social venues, leisure centers and other activities are opening back up. So, why not take advantage of them and meet your friends and family for a fun day out somewhere? This could be a spa day, a sports club, shopping, meals out or anything else.
Sure, we might not want to throw ourselves in the deep end when it comes to activities as we’re coming out of the pandemic. But the ideas above could help you to ease yourself back into normalcy!
