Because human beings are social creatures, they crave a sense of belonging and companionship. Friendships complement and make one’s life rewarding and fulfilling, and it’s an experience worth investing in.
Everyone feels good when they know they have loving and caring friends they can always rely on in good and bad times, and it’s always a joy to meet and spend time with genuine friends. Here are guidelines for establishing and maintaining true friendships.
Create Happiness Together
The world is full of challenges, and people tend to be attracted to those who bring happiness, love, and joy to their lives. Lasting friendships should have lots of laughter, fun, and positivity. Create memorable moments where you can spend time together as friends, celebrate each other’s achievements, and encourage one another to keep pushing on or becoming better people.
Now and then throw a party for your friends. It doesn’t have to be so involving or tedious because you can get party catering services that enable you to have meaningful time with friends and not be all over the place trying to arrange everything or make sure everyone is comfortable.
Be Genuine
Don’t start a friendship because there’s something you think you can gain from the other person but be genuine and authentic with pure intentions. Never pretend to like somebody’s company when you don’t just to gain something from them and don’t exploit a friendship.
However, you don’t have to like everyone but choose friends who genuinely connect to you- people who understand you and like you just the way you are.
Do Not Gossip
No one trusts anyone who gossips, and it’s very hurtful when a friend shares some confidential information then realizes that you have shared with others or taken advantage of what you know- gossip breeds negativity and ruins friendships.
People seek friendships because they want to connect without being judged and feel safe, understood, and valued. Protect your friends, don’t reveal any information they share with you, or encourage gossiping. It would be best if you never entertained gossip, especially when it involves your friends.
Be There When Your Friends Need You
Many build friendships because they’re assured of company or people to depend on when they’re weak or going through challenges. Life is full of challenges, and your friends would be glad when you’re supportive, encouraging, and there for them.
Sometimes, all they need is a shoulder to lean on, and when you’re there, it makes a lot of difference. Some friends don’t know how to share or open up when going through challenges, but when you have a deep connection, you’ll sense when all is not well, prompting you to take the necessary action.
Give More Than You Take
Never keep score of what your friends do for you but aim to give more than you take. Genuine friendships are not based on material things but deep love and connection to each other. Always contribute to your friends’ lives without expecting anything in return.
When you build meaningful friendships, life becomes more fulfilling and fun. When invested in the relationship, your friends will be prompted to do the same.
