- Stay away from the news. If your accident was televised and there has been extensive media coverage of the injuries from other people involved, it can be difficult to deal with. Sometimes, seeing all the images or hearing all the details can make it so much harder for you to cope with the trauma. You need to be able to stay positive and you need to be able to move forward and sometimes that does involve some level of avoidance.
- Remember that it takes time. The most important thing you need after an accident is to give yourself time. Seeking help and support from your loved ones and from therapists and support groups is great, but all of these things are going to be a part of helping you to pass the time as you personally heal. Your physical injuries will heal a lot quicker than your emotional or mental injuries, so give yourself the time and let that time move forward.
Getting through trauma after an accident is important, but soon enough this chapter of your life will be closed, and you will be able to integrate back into the real world again. An accident is never easy, and it will take a while to get back on the road. take your time and give yourself some grace because you will need it.
