Investing in yourself doesn’t have to involve loads of elaborate plans, it doesn’t mean you’ve got to read tons of self-help books, and it doesn’t (necessarily) warrant hours and hours of self-reflection. True, you can do any of these things – or all of them – if that works for you, but there are some simpler ideas as well, and it might be that those are easier to at least get started with. With that in mind, here are some ways to focus on investing in yourself without getting too caught up in everything and overthinking it, which can so often lead to not doing anything at all. Read on to find out more.
Focus On Small Wins
Big goals can be utterly daunting, but small wins, on the other hand, can be enjoyable to work towards – it might not seem like all that much of a difference because the result is the same, but breaking goals down into smaller ones could be what makes you successful in the end.
What we mean is that instead of trying to completely master a new skill, why not commit to working on it for 15 minutes a day? That’s easier, less overwhelming, and usually more possible to fit into your routine. And that can be for anything, from getting healthier to studying or doing projects like DIY around the house, for example – start small and build up to the best result.
Say Yes To Opportunities
A lot of the time, the best way to invest in yourself is just to say yes when someone offers you the chance to try something new or there’s an opportunity in front of you. Of course, that’s an easy thing to say, and not always such an easy thing to do, but if you just keep the end result in mind, you should find the motivation to do it.
So what is it you’ve put off doing because it would take you out of your comfort zone, but you’ve got the opportunity to try it? Maybe you want to take a new class, start a business, cook different food, start a creative hobby… taking small steps out of your comfort zone is the best way to move forward, and if you’re not perfect when you try new things, that doesn’t matter – in fact, the point is that you can get better when you keep going.
Upgrade The Basics
Sometimes self-investment really is as simple as upgrading the things you already use or do – so you could easily replace that old office chair with one that doesn’t make your back hurt, or you could refresh your wardrobe with a few quality pieces that make you look (and feel!) great and boost your confidence.
Or what about finding a dentist who can use dental composite in the right way to improve your smile? That can make all the difference to how you feel about yourself and there’s not a lot to think about – once it’s done, the results speak (or smile) for themselves.
