What Buyers Want To See Most When Looking Around Your Home

September 1, 2021 By lyndsinreallife

Buyers can be a fussy bunch. They will consider homes from every angle, asking themselves what they can get out of them.

Therefore, if you’re planning on selling your home, it is a good idea to give them what they want. Treat your property as a business. Make the aim to get as much money for it as possible while spending the least on repairs, renovations and refurbs.

Energy Star Rating

Today’s homeowners are more energy conscious than ever before. They care about efficiency for many reasons. Some want a home that protects the environment and others want to take advantage of the latest energy-saving technology.

It’s a good idea, therefore, to get your home star-rated. Once you have a rating, ask a professional about the cheapest way to improve it. Sometimes, they will suggest simply pumping foam insulation behind your walls – typically a cheap job.

Buyers also want to live in homes with excellent garage storage. Typically, they use these spaces for hobby items, like bikes or kayaks.

If you can, put down a robust vinyl floor in your garage and then add cabinets to a couple of walls, making sure to use all the available vertical space. You can then sell the garage area as a separate space for keeping bulky items.

Air Conditioning

Before they move into your home, buyers will want to see that you have a working air conditioning system. If you haven’t done so already, invest in AC repair. Make sure that your heating and cooling is functioning optimally before you put your house on the market. Then, when you host buyers, emphasise the fact that your system is working and that they will not need to make significant investments in it themselves.

Walk-in Pantry

Imagine being able to walk into a pantry space, take whatever items you wanted off the shelf, and then leave. It would be a completely different experience, right?

Well, that’s precisely what today’s buyers are looking for, particularly in high-end homes. They want to be able to store large quantities of esoteric ingredients – and for them to all be at eye-level. Many buyers are willing to pay substantial premiums for walk-in pantries – as much as $10,000 – making them a worthwhile investment.

Double Sinks

Double sinks in the bathroom and kitchen are another buyer favorite. People want to be able to divide food prep from the washing area and have two sinks for getting ready in the morning. What’s more, this is one of the least expensive home upgrades that you can make. Installing a second sink isn’t costly.

Exterior Lighting

Exterior lighting is incredibly fashionable right now. Over the last ten years, architects and designers have been adding it to property exteriors, and now many buyers expect it.

Again, it is a simple thing to install. Just place spotlights and flood lights on the floor surrounding your home to provide illumination. You can power units with solar panels so that you don’t wind up increasing your energy bills.

Hopefully this has helped you to know what to focus on when selling your house! Good luck!

Yes, I agree. The functionality of the garage is not limited to a place for a car. Although this is the main purpose of it, many people use it for different purposes.
