Family Fun & Games For Christmas

November 27, 2019 By lyndsinreallife Leave a Comment

So Christmas is just around the corner, and you are hosting the main event or at least one of the main events. There is so much to do and so little time. Not only do you have to think about food for everyone, and drinks, seating, etc. You also need to think up some ideas to fill that Christmas lull after the big Christmas dinner and your evening guests arriving. It has to be something for all the family, for all age ranges. This can add pressure to an already pressurized situation. So, to help you out, we have come up with a few fun ideas that can easily be incorporated into your family event. These games will help keep the conversation flowing, the party going, and will be sure you include people of all ages.

Charades

This is an oldie but a goodie. Everyone can have a go at Charades. If you are one of the few people out there, who have never played and don’t know what it is, you are missing out. It is simple. A selected person has to choose a film or a song or some other kind of trivia, up to you to decide, and act it out. As the host, you could create a Christmas only theme, or if you wanted to, you could fill a hat with ideas to make it more or less difficult for the actors, up to you.

Alternatively, you could leave it open for the selected person to decide what they are going to do. It always gets people laughing, and no one feels left out. This is a great Christmas party game.

Two Truths and a Lie

You can create a Christmas theme for this well-known game. Perhaps you could get family members to divulge two Christmas truths and one lie, and the rest have to guess the lie. You could make it about gifts that they have received, or just some memorable event that has happened this Christmas, or on previous Christmases. This really gets people thinking and can fill that time while you are preparing the evening festivities.

Christmas Anagrams

Another game you could play is getting everyone to write the name of a Christmas Carol or Christman item in the form of an anagram. Make everyone put their offering into a hat along with the name of the person who wrote it. You can pull the clue and write it on a board, or some paper so that everyone can see, and everyone, apart from the person who wrote it, can try and guess the anagram. If you have a few tough ones, though, you could use the unscramble words site for guidance.

Match a Christmas Pair

You could get a pile of unused Christmas cards and get everyone to draw a Christmas item on the inside. Ensure you hand out enough cards for everyone to draw the same image twice. Once everyone has drawn their pictures, mix all the cards together then place them face down on the floor. Then everyone can have a go at trying to match a pair. This could work best if you have the same Christman card repeated over and over, rather than lots of different images, as this makes it more difficult.

What games do you and your family play over the holidays?

How To Host A Christmas Party This Year

October 29, 2019 By lyndsinreallife 1 Comment

When it comes to Christmas, there is nothing better than hosting a party. After all, it provides the perfect opportunity for the person hosting the party to get everybody together and make some special memories with all of their closest family and friends. Plus, it is a great way to lift everybody’s spirits and get them excited for the festive season that lies ahead!

The person who has the privilege/challenge of hosting the Christmas party this year will obviously have a lot to plan and think about. It goes without saying that the first thing they will need to tackle is the actual venue of the event in which they are going to host. However, there is no need to worry as there are so many exciting and different venues that are suitable for a Christmas party. The key is to simply narrow down these venues by using the criteria of the person who is playing host.

Choose The Theme

The first thing that the host will need to do is decide on what sort of party they want their Christmas bash to be like, in order to then determine what sort of venue they should be looking at. The key questions that the host needs to be asking themselves are: Do they want a big party or something intimate? Do they want to dance the night away? Do they want something that resolves around fine food? Do they want something more low key whereby all the guests can catch up with one another? The answer to these questions will point people in the right direction of the sort of venues they should be looking at. Example: if they want something that resolves around food, then the obvious choice would be to rent a restaurant. Mozaic offers the best lunch if you’re interested in something like this for your Christmas event.

Location, Location, Location

Aside from the actual type of party, the host needs to think about the location of the venue. A lot of people overlook this point but it is highly important. It’s all good if someone finds a fantastic and stunning place for the party to take place. However, if people can’t get there, then there won’t be a party at all. The important thing is to make sure that the location is in a place that is convenient for all, and possibly close to public transportation so that those who cannot drive can go to the party, too.

Pick A Date

A final point worth noting is that it is highly advisable to sit down and select a few dates that the party could take place. Then try and book the occasion as soon as possible. After all, the festive period is an extremely busy time for parties and if the host wants to ensure that their party goes ahead as planned, then they need to secure the venue on their date as soon as possible.

Oh, and one last thing – don’t forget to enjoy the event, too!

Have you hosted a holiday party? What are some tips you have for newbies?

Giving Back Has Never Been So ‘Fresh and Easy’

November 9, 2014 By lyndsinreallife 2 Comments

When I first moved to Pasadena, California, Fresh and Easy (F&E) became my all-time favorite grocery store. Healthy foods at great prices; what more could someone ask for? Now that I live in West Los Angeles, it’s a bit more of a drive, but completely worth it!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I received monetary compensation in exchange for promoting Fresh and Easy’s giving back bags. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

The F&E Express in West LA

Fresh and Easy prides themselves on having healthier options (all F&E foods are free of high-fructose corn syrup, added trans fats, artificial colors or flavors) for less cost. They’re able to offer their foods at low-cost because all their stores are designed to save money! All stores use LED lighting and energy-efficient refrigerator doors. Plus their checkouts are all self-checkout, which means they save money by only hiring a few workers to help customers. It’s perfect because the shopper gets great products at great prices, plus there are just enough associates to help the customers!

My favorite thing about F&E is their prepared meals. I’ll admit cooking is not one of my hobbies. Between measuring the ingredients and the amount of time it generally takes, I am all for meals that just need heated up in the oven or microwave! F&E offers tons of options in the prepared-meal department; from Asian, to American, to Mexican, they pretty much cover it all!

A few of the prepared meals at F&E

This holiday season, Fresh and Easy is giving back through their Giving Back Bag program. Here are the details:

  • Purchase a Giving Back Bag at any F&E for $10
  • Every bag contains 13 essential, non-perishable food items, such as cereal bars, canned tuna and canned green beans.
  • You can either leave the bag at F&E for them to donate to a local food bank, or you can take it with you and donate the bag to a charity of your choice!
  • The program runs from 11/5-12/25 (2014).

In the F&E Express

It is that simple! Giving back has never been so easy. F&E does all the work for you, and you get to help people-in-need this holiday season!

Fresh and Easy Giving Back Bag Details

In addition to my love for F&E, I love donating to people who need it. I’ve been donating my clothes to a community that’s less-fortunate for as long as I can remember. So of course I needed to head to my nearest F&E store and purchase a Giving Back Bag!

Fresh and Easy Giving Back Bag 5

I went to the F&E Express in West LA. The express store has fewer items, but it still has everything I need! They even have organic dog treats and food, which is perfect for my puppy Archie. They had a great deal on coconut water (which is my favorite drink ever), but I settled for coconut flavored water because I wanted to try something new!

The Giving Back Bags were at the self-checkouts, and were already packed with goodies. F&E truly made it as easy as possible for people to donate. So we purchased our dinner (prepared fried chicken and garlic bread- SO good!), coconut flavored water, and a Giving Back Bag! All for under $25.

If you live near a F&E store, I definitely recommend getting some (if not all) of your groceries there, and purchase a Giving Back Bag (or two!) to donate to a local food bank! It truly is a fresh and easy way to give back. You can find store locations on their website here.

You can find Fresh and Easy on their website, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube!

Share your photos of your Giving Back Bag on social media by tagging @freshandeasy!

So tell me,

  • Do you shop at Fresh and Easy? If so, what is your favorite F&E product?

  • Would you purchase a Giving Back Bag? Who would you donate it to?
